Follow these cues to master proper technique and stay safe through every rep.
- Step 1Setup
- Adjust the cable machine to a low position and attach a rope or straight bar.
- Set an incline bench at a 30 to 45-degree angle and place it in front of the cable machine.
- Step 2Position Yourself
- Sit on the incline bench with your back against the pad and feet flat on the ground.
- Grab the cable attachment with both hands, palms facing each other if using a rope, or palms facing up if using a straight bar.
- Step 3Start Position
- Extend your arms straight up above your chest, keeping a slight bend in your elbows.
- Engage your core and maintain a straight back against the bench.
- Step 4Lower the Weight
- Slowly lower the attachment towards your forehead by bending your elbows.
- Keep your upper arms stationary and focus on moving only your forearms.
- Step 5Lift the Weight
- Extend your arms back to the starting position by straightening your elbows.
- Ensure that you control the movement and do not let the weight pull your arms back too quickly.
- Step 6Repeat
- Perform the desired number of repetitions while maintaining proper form throughout each rep.
- Focus on controlled movements to maximize muscle engagement and minimize risk of injury.
- Step 7Finish the Exercise
- After completing your reps, carefully place the cable attachment back on the machine.
- Stand up from the bench, ensuring to maintain good posture as you do so.
